MTV announced the list of nominees for the upcoming 2024 Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Tuesday, with Taylor Swift, SZA, Post Malone and more as some most nominated acts.
Swift is leading with ten the nominations, including some of the night’s biggest awards, like Video for the Year and Artist of the Year. Should she win the former, she’d break her own record and become the only artist to ever the category five times, three of which were consecutive.
Swift’s Fortnight collaborator, Post Malone, follows closely behind with nine nomination. Ariana Grande, Eminem, and Sabrina Carpenter snagged six. Resident hot girl Megan Thee Stallion and “Snooze” singer SZA earned five nominations, including a big one, Artist of the Year, while Lisa, Olivia Rodrigo and Teddy Swims all were nominated four times. Latto has several nominations, inclding Best Collaboration, for Jung Kook’s “Seven.”
Victoria Monet and Tyla, both of whom have been at the top of their game in recent years, received two and three nominations respectively. They are also among the 29 first-time VMAs nominees — Sexxy Redd, Burna Boy, Coco Jones and Flyana Boss are also first-time nominees.
Beyoncé (who, notably, has dropped no videos for her three-act trilogy of albums only earned a Song of the Year nomination for Cowboy Carter‘s “Texas Hold Em.” She’s up against Jack Harlow’s “Lovin On Me,” Kendrick Lamar’s anthem “Not Like Us,” Carpenter’s mega hit “Espresso,” Swift and Malone’s “Fortnight,” and Swims’ “Lose Control.”
The VMAs will be held in New York’s UBS Arena on Sept 10 at 8 p.m.
